Physiotherapy is concerned with the assessment, maintenance and restoration of the physical function and performance of the body. It is a branch of treatment which has become extremely popular and the scope and it has been growing steadily. Used in conjunction with certain medical or surgical techniques, helps in providing speedy and complication free return to normal restoration of physical activities.
The demand for Physiotherapy Courses has been increasing, with regards to the population getting aware about the benefits of physical treatment. Physiotherapy has been helping in managing a wide range of injuries, disease processes and other conditions including spinal cord injuries, muscular tension, sports injuries, postural problems, rehabilitation following stroke, cardiac surgeries, asthma, occupational injuries, injuries of joint and muscles etc. Physiotherapy has been having tremendous growth in the past 5 years, and is expected to reach greater heights in the year following.

This course of BPT (bachelor of physiotherapy) helps in the diagnosis as well as the management of various ailments, with manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, electro physical modalities etc. Physiotherapy can be broadly classified into 3 areas; musculoskeletal physiotherapy, cardiothoracic physiotherapy and neurological physiotherapy, which almost covers all the areas of health problems for which physiotherapy has a positive outcome.
During the course of 4 years, the programme provides an educational experience of the essentials required for the health care among the population. The educational process involves problems based learning, which enables the students to identify, discuss and analyse various dysfunctions incorporating institutional management as well as community based rehabilitation. The learning process is further strengthened during the 6 months of mandatory, rotatory internship programme where students learn to treat the patients under the guidance and supervision of competent teachers. As well as studies in behavioural and bio medical science, and the clinical experience will prepare the studentsfor employment as entry-level physiotherapists in a variety of health care settings such as hospitals, community health centres, rehabilitation centres and private practices.
SCOPE FOR FUTURE PHYSIOTHERAPISTS:

DURATION OF THE COURSE:
The duration of the bachelor of physiotherapy (BPT) course is 4.5 years, followed by 6 months internship. The medium of instruction is English and all the subjects of study and for the examination of BPT course.
ELIGIBILITY:
A candidate seeking admission for bachelor in physiotherapy should have passed 2 years of pre university examination with physics, chemistry and biology as optional subjects and English as one among the subjects with marks not less than 45%. A candidate seeking admission for bachelor in physiotherapy should have completed a minimum of 17 years of age.
